The staff at the Goodwin Community Center realizes that the teen years can be very difficult. With the teenaged years comes peer pressure, decisions about the future, learning about finances and many more. Fortunately, most of the staff of the community center have recently gone through many of these issues and are available to offer guidance in surviving the teen years.
To help our teen community and parents, the center offers a number of helpful programs aimed at helping teens have fun, make friends and make good decision for their future. Some of the programs we offer include:
Career Planning – We will be offering occasional programs where we will be bringing in people from the community to talk about career opportunities in different fields. Teens will have an opportunity to listen and ask questions of our guests.
College Planning – Our center is offers help in learning about the college planning process. From offering suggestions on fields of study to our “College Fair” where we will be bringing in representatives from local colleges to talk about their schools, the financial aid process and more.
School Tutoring – Sometimes teens need help in certain subjects and don’t know where to turn. Our staff and tutors can help teens get over the school problem subjects and help by giving teens better study habits.
Learn to Drive – Throughout the year, we will be sponsoring learn to drive programs through a local driving academy.
Safe Net Zone – Teens have access to a variety of online services, which can present potential dangers. Our center talks about how to be safe online, safe usage of social media and Cyberbullying.
Monthly Social – Teens can have fun and meet friends with our monthly social. DJ Raz will be playing some tunes where teens can dance or just listen to the music.
